Costa Rica does not require a visa for citizens of many countries (e.g.: USA, Canada, most European countries). We recommend checking your status online.
You must, however, have a valid passport (for at least 6 more months after your departure date) and a return (onward) ticket to enter the country (this applies to all foreigners). All tourists are limited to UP TO 90 days in the country.

According to surveys conducted by numerous airline ticket services, the best airfare to Central America may be obtained by booking around 2-3 months before your departure date. You should book your flight at least 30 days before the start of your tour.

Yes, you can. But the cost for your hotel with the check-in date before the start of the tour is your responsibility.
Yes, you can. You are welcome to make arrangements to stay in the country longer after the checkout date at your hotel at your expense.

In Costa Rica, an unlocked phone will work. You can call your wireless operator ahead of time to add worldwide roaming to your plan. But using popular apps, like WhatsApp, Signal or Telegram will save you a lot of money. Also, if you are from the USA or Canada, you can use MagicJack or OpenPhone to contact your home country for free and to keep your home phone number!

Only when traveling to Costa Rica from Africa (Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Gabon, Gambia, Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Sudan), Venezuela, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, Brazil, and the Republic of Guyana, the yellow fever vaccine certificate is required. The vaccine must be given at least 10 days before the start date of your trip.

Remember that the only foreign currency accepted in Costa Rica other than colones is USD, so carry some USD cash with you for places that don’t accept cards. The easiest approach to get the greatest conversion rates is to use your card in Costa Rica.
